like the thoughts wouldn't be what you think you sound like
Avatar
it just sounds like thoughts
Avatar
If you choose for them to sound different from you in your head.
Avatar
generally yes, though the thoughts that are in its voice are ones that you normally wouldn't have, being more fitting to the type of personality they have. later on they'll have these sort of thoughts without any forethought
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:30 PM
so these thoughts
7:30 PM
its like having sporadic thoughts
Avatar
somewhat, yes
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:31 PM
so when they talk back, you don't think it's yourself. but it's them?
Avatar
it's like someone else in your head is thinking using the exact same mental processes you do therefore, it doesn't sound any different but you know it's someone else doing it

How do you tell the difference between your thoughts and theirs?
Avatar
You could be doing something and your tulpa might interject their opinion.
7:31 PM
That depends on what you expect.
Avatar
that's a matter of practice mostly. There's tricks to it, like using a different mindvoice or so
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:31 PM
Can you tell the difference?
Avatar
Apollo/ there's usually some sort of other presence behind the thoughts in our system, some indescribable way of telling exactly whose thoughts it came from
7:32 PM
Apollo/ you share a brain with them, so you can of course tell who it comes from, given you're not doubting them
Avatar
For me, my thoughts feel like they come from all of my mind, while tulpa thoughts feel like they come from either the front or the back. (edited)

So when you think about a word
7:32 PM
you say it in your head
7:32 PM
but tulpas
7:32 PM
you dont think about a word
7:32 PM
they just say something
Avatar
what celestial said, how you tell them apart depends on how developed they are, they do develop over time, they don't spontainiously come into being fully formed, unless they're a "walk-in", which tends to happen when you already have a well developed tulpa or two
Avatar
They think about the word and then say something
7:33 PM
and you can most likely hear/feel them thinking it
Avatar
Er, let’s not muddy the water with walk-ins.
Avatar
agreed
Avatar
For simplicity’s sake.

So it's a sound in your head
Avatar
they were just relevent to what i was saying
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:35 PM
you know isn't yours
7:35 PM
im really confused
Avatar
well they can just be thoughts in your head for one. Like when you think to yourself
7:35 PM
doesn't need to be some audible voice you hear
Avatar
do you have a mindvoice?
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:36 PM
When I type something
7:36 PM
I think it in my head
7:37 PM
I don't get how you would tell the difference between your own thoughts, and a tulpas
Avatar
again, practice
Avatar
There's a different identity behind it, a different presence
7:37 PM
it's hard to describe
7:37 PM
it has to be experienced to be understood
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:38 PM
so you know it's not you
Avatar
it may feel like you at first tbh
7:38 PM
but with practice you get better at it
Avatar
think i can try using a metaphor of sorts?
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:39 PM
I might just try this
7:39 PM
would be good having an opinion other than my own
Avatar
i do want to say that i don't have a ton of experience with tulpas, only had clair with me for about 6 months i believe
Avatar
It's kind of like a muscle spasm, responses from tulpas can feel very distinct.
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:40 PM
Wait
7:40 PM
So I read this switching thing
7:40 PM
does that mean you can literally turn your brain off
7:41 PM
kind of like going to your happy place
Avatar
if you can go to your happy place normally you can go there when you're switched
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:41 PM
holy fuck
Avatar
least to me, it sometimes feels like reading a book that has a female lead, so you read it in a more femenine mindvoice, except that with a tulpa, that voice comes up without reading a script. and later on, without being able to tell what the original intention of their dialogue will be
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:42 PM
when you're switched
7:42 PM
you can't use your body
Avatar
that's the idea
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:42 PM
do you see your body moving?
7:42 PM
holy fuck
7:42 PM
people can do this?
Avatar
yes actually
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:42 PM
you see your body moving/
7:42 PM
holy shit
Avatar
our oldest tulpa is 16 months
Avatar
will ask this, since i'm curious as well
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:43 PM
switching out of your body and going to your happy place
Avatar
is switching/possession like a tulpa-driven autopilot? that's what it feels like to me
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:43 PM
while your tulpa takes your place
7:43 PM
yeah
7:43 PM
seems like autpilot
7:43 PM
but do you not remember what the tulpa did?
Avatar
@Deleted User I don't think people acutally "go" anywhere, parallel processing is a myth imo
Avatar
yeah it can certainly feel like autopilot for some
7:44 PM
and in general you can remember what the tulpa did, when that doesn't happen it's usually in kind of, traumatic cases
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:44 PM
What the heck
7:44 PM
that has happened before?
Avatar
like, I'm talking DID here
7:44 PM
where people lose time when switched out with an alter
Avatar
though you might have gaps in your ability to recall what you did, a lot like you do when you're on heavy autopilot
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:45 PM
I'm actually scared of some shit, because I've been reading some stories about people forcing for 3 years and still no mindvoice, mate.
Avatar
yeah like, those people ain't doing it right tbh
Avatar
It all comes down to the host's mindset
Avatar
i have my own theories on that some, tbh
Avatar
my host had a mindset that vocality would be so difficult to reach, so it took longer for Apollo to become vocal than it should have
Avatar
meanwhile Tacio took maybe a day or two to become fully vocal
Avatar
beliefs and expectations are some shit, man
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:47 PM
This is groundbreaking
7:47 PM
is what it say's
Avatar
yeah... you have to have -faith- that it can work for it to be able to, essentially.... which is harder for some than others
Avatar
by which I mean, please don't place expectations on things and just go through the process in allowance (edited)
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:47 PM
Well how can I be sure I'm doing everything right? Isn't it's just like spend time with her, do something together, don't forget to narrate everytime and sooner or later her mindvoice will become "stronger"?
Avatar
like i started out kind of just diving into it because i already did this sort of thing to some degree, only realized that it goes surprisingly deep later on
Avatar
Deleted User 4/10/2018 7:48 PM
how the fuck
Avatar
Well, it took us ~2 years and Shade learning to stop me from being able to speak in mindvoice before we had consistent vocal communication
Avatar
like, the barest working technique is, talk to the aether until it talks back. Love it until it loves back.
